“Want to rent a 3/3?”
After experiencing the emotional up-and-downs of having my first two offers rejected by the bank, I decided that I would make one final offer and if it wasn’t accepted I would walk away from the deal. So after being willing to let it go, it came back. Fannie Mae met my initial terms. However, the whole thing unfolded on their terms in the sense that what should have only taken a few weeks took two months with them!
So now, a month later, I’ve moved into my new home. Moving wasn’t exactly therapeutic, as I tried to decide how many of my treasured possessions I really need and want. Nevertheless, they got moved, to be sorted later.
Now I’m working on the next phase of turning my first property around. I’ve gained some experience in dealing with various vendors, painters, landscapers, etc. Some show up as promised and some only show up when they want to. Time is now money to me, because no renters = no cash flow. This phase has taken a little longer than I anticipated but it’s now nearing the end. At this point I am advertising and can finish all the little remaining fixes while I’m looking for renters. Ahh, the next phase--the renter! I’m sure I will have a learning curve there too. But, so exciting!
